Bryan and Cedar met through one of the geekiest means: role-playing games.  While they met once during a Vampire: The Masquerade LARP in Grass Valley (circa 2002), they became friends while participating in tabletop RPG's hosted by mutual friends--we're looking at you, AJ, Dore, and Jason. 

They've been through a lot: When Bryan needed a Sacramento-area address, he ended up moving in with Cedar (who was married at the time.)  When he fell in love and moved out, Cedar's cat Izzy moved with him.  Turns out Izzy knew Bryan was pretty much the best and didn't want to be parted from him.  They attended culinary classes together at American River College.  Their friendship weathered a few storms, but came out stronger for it.

After Cedar separated from her husband, Bryan and his wife Mara gave her a place to stay while she got back on her feet.  Even after Cedar found her own place, she spent a lot of time with Bryan and Mara.  Even though they were dealing with Mara's failing health, Bryan and Mara were amazing friends to Cedar.

After Mara passed away, Bryan and Cedar bonded even more.  Their shared grief and long friendship became something deeper.  After dating for over a year, they decided to get married.  They look forward to many more adventures and a relationship that, like a good whiskey, will grow better and more complex with time.
